Introducing #CHAIRitySLO

Last night I gave free 10 minute chair massages at a Ladies Night hosted by Axis Chiropractic here in SLO. I had committed to the event a while back thinking it could be a good way to connect with the community but, last night as I threw my chair over my shoulder and began my 30 second walk around the corner to the event (gotta love SLO), I kicked myself thinking maybe I should be staying home for some quality family time instead.

Upon arriving, I was greeted by my fellow wom-entrepeneurs (did I just make that up?!) all of whom were there to share their products/services with our guests and most of whom were also wives and mommas who likely dealt with my same heart dilemmas as they made their way to the event.  Feeling their buzz elevated my excitement about the evening, but it wasn't until I had my first client in the chair that all fell away and I knew that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

I shared sweet 10 minute experiences with each of the women that sat in my chair during which they told me their stories and we built relationships that I had no idea were possible in such a short timeframe. From the Adventure-preneur (another new word?!) who left behind her accounting career to pursue her outdoorsy passions to the B.A. Chrones Conqueror who didn't buy the "diet has no effect on your gut and auto immune health" line that doctors fed her, each woman had a unique story and our time together fed my soul and brought me crazy joy! But then there was the Essential Tipper who took it over the top. With just $5 this essential-oils-guru inspired an idea that I hope will have a cool impact on our community.

With the buzz of the evening in my heart and her $5 in my pocket, I left the event with my mind sifting through ideas of how I could use this "magic" chair of mine to connect with more people and love on the community.  That's when it clicked...if she tipped for a free chair massage, other people would tip too, especially if it was going to a good cause (and is a good massage).

So, I've decided that my chair (#CHAIRitySLO) and I will attend one community event each month where I'll dish out free 10 minute massages and collect tips which will be donated to a local non-profit. Have ideas of where #CHAIRitySLO should be? Tag it in your photos at a local event or on the event's Facebook page or email to tell me where we should be. I'll support a different SLO County non-profit organization/program each month and I won't keep a dime, that's my commitment to you.
